Countdowns you create

A countdown you make with the countdown maker lives entirely in its link. The title, date and colour are encoded in the address; we do not keep a copy in a database. The address does pass through our hosting provider when the page loads, so it can appear in their standard request logs for a short time. If you share the link, whoever opens it can see what is in it — do not put anything in a countdown title that you would not put in a message.

Analytics

We use two analytics tools to learn which pages and tools people use.

Vercel Analytics counts page views and a few actions without cookies and without identifying visitors.

Google Analytics records page views and actions such as opening the App Store, making a countdown, copying its link or using a calculator. It uses cookies to tell a returning visitor from a new one. In the EU, the UK, Switzerland and Turkey these cookies are off until you accept them; before that, Google receives only cookieless signals that do not identify you. You can change your choice at any time with "Cookie settings" at the bottom of every page.

What you type is never sent to either tool: not a countdown's title, not the dates you enter in a calculator. We only record that something happened, the page's language and type, and details such as whether a countdown repeats yearly.

We do not run advertising or advertising trackers, and we do not sell data.

Fonts

On devices that do not have Apple's rounded system font, pages load the Nunito font from Google Fonts. That request goes to Google and includes your IP address. Apple devices use their own font and do not make it.

The app

The Countdown app for iPhone has its own privacy policy, shown on its App Store page.
