In weeks, months and sleeps
Weeks and months are counted from today in your own time zone, the same way as the day count. "Sleeps" is the number of nights before the clocks change, which is the same as the days if you count tonight.
Keep this countdown on your iPhone.
Countdown shows the same count on your home and lock screens and reminds you as the day gets close.

About this countdown
In the US and most of Canada the clocks change twice a year: forward an hour on the second Sunday in March, and back an hour on the first Sunday in November, both at 2 am local time. This page counts down to the next change, whichever way it goes.
- Daylight saving time ends at 2 am on Sunday, November 1, 2026. Clocks go back to 1 am, so you get an extra hour that night.
- Hawaii and most of Arizona stay on standard time all year, and so does most of Saskatchewan. Yukon stopped changing its clocks in 2020. The Navajo Nation in Arizona does change.
- Europe changes on different Sundays, the last one in March and the last one in October. For a week or two each spring and autumn, New York and London are an hour closer than usual.
- Phones and computers change by themselves. The ones to fix by hand are usually the oven, the microwave and the car.
Questions people ask
When does daylight saving time end?
On the first Sunday in November, at 2 am local time. The clocks go back to 1 am, so that night has 25 hours. The next dates are listed above.
When does daylight saving time start again?
On the second Sunday in March, at 2 am local time. The clocks jump to 3 am and you lose an hour of sleep.
Do we gain or lose an hour?
You gain one in November, when 2 am turns back into 1 am. You lose one in March, when 2 am jumps to 3 am. "Spring forward, fall back" is the usual way to remember it.
Is daylight saving time being made permanent?
Not so far. The Sunshine Protection Act, which would keep daylight time all year, passed the Senate in 2022 but did not become law, and the clocks still change twice a year. If that changes, this page will change with it.
When do the clocks change in Australia?
In New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia, Tasmania and the ACT, clocks go forward on the first Sunday in October and back on the first Sunday in April. Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory do not change.
