Fifty minutes is an hour with ten minutes left over for a break, a walk or getting to the next thing. Press Start and it counts down from 50:00.
What people use a 50 minute timer for
- A deep work block in the 50/10 split: 50 minutes on one task, then 10 minutes off.
- A class period. Plenty of colleges run 50-minute classes three days a week.
- Keeping a therapy or coaching session on time.
- Banana bread or a loaf cake, which usually needs 50 to 60 minutes. Check it when it beeps.
How this timer works
- It remembers the moment it will end, so it stays right when you switch tabs or your phone locks.
- At zero it plays a few short beeps, vibrates on phones that can, and shows "Time's up" in the tab title.
- While it runs it asks the screen to stay on. Full screen makes the numbers big enough to read across a room.

Questions people ask
Why is a therapy session 50 minutes?
It leaves the therapist ten minutes between clients to write notes and reset. Some sessions run 45 or 60 minutes instead, depending on the practice.
Is 50/10 better than the Pomodoro technique?
Neither suits everyone. The 25-minute Pomodoro helps with tasks you keep putting off; 50 minutes works better for work that takes a while to get into. This timer does not loop, so start the 10 minute timer for the break.
Does the timer work without an internet connection?
Once the page has loaded, yes. The timer runs in your browser and does not need the network to count down or to beep.
Counting down to a date rather than a few minutes? The countdown maker works for any day, and with Pro the Countdown app puts it on your iPhone Lock Screen.
