About this countdown
Victoria Day is the Monday before May 25, Queen Victoria's birthday, and it is also the monarch's official birthday in Canada. For most people it is just the May long weekend, and the start of cottage season.
- Victoria Day 2027 is Monday, May 24.
- It always falls between May 18 and May 24, which is why a lot of people call it May two-four.
- In Quebec the same Monday is National Patriots' Day.
Questions people ask
How many days until the May long weekend?
The number at the top of this page, counted to Victoria Day Monday in whole days, with today not included.
Is Victoria Day a statutory holiday?
It is a federal holiday and a paid holiday in most provinces. Paid holidays are set by each province, though, so a few treat it differently.
Why is it called May two-four?
Because Victoria's birthday was 24 May, and because a case of 24 beers is also a two-four. Most people will tell you it is about both.
