Online countdown timer
Any length up to 24 hoursAlarm at zeroFull screen
Time's up
Space to start or pause, R to reset, F for full screen.
Set the time and press Start. The timer remembers when it will end, so it stays accurate in a background tab, and when time is up it beeps, vibrates where it can and changes the tab title. Nothing to install and no sign-up.
How to use it
- Type the hours, minutes and seconds, or pick a ready-made timer below.
- Press Start or the space bar. Press it again to pause.
- At zero you hear three short bursts of beeps and the tab title says the time is up.
- Press Reset or R to run the same length again.
Full screen for a class or a meeting
Press F and the countdown fills the screen, big enough to read across a classroom, a meeting room or a gym. While it runs, the timer asks your device to keep the screen on, so a laptop on a projector won’t dim halfway through a test. The time left also shows in the tab title, so you can keep an eye on it from another tab.

Questions people ask
How do I set a countdown timer?
Type the hours, minutes and seconds, then press Start. The space bar also starts and pauses it, and R resets it. For a common length, pick one of the ready-made timers below the clock.
Does the timer make a sound?
Yes. At zero it plays three short bursts of beeps, about four seconds in all, and phones that allow it also vibrate. Browsers only play sound after you have clicked something on the page; the Start button counts.
How do I make the timer full screen?
Press F or the Full screen button. The countdown fills the screen, which is handy on a projector or a TV for a class, a meeting or a workout. Press F or Esc to go back.
Does it keep running if I switch tabs?
Yes. The timer remembers when it will end rather than counting ticks, so it stays right in a background tab or after the laptop sleeps. The tab title shows the time left while it runs.
Can I share a timer with a set length?
Yes. Add the length to the link: /timer?m=7 for seven minutes, /timer?t=90 for ninety seconds, or /timer?h=1&m=30 for an hour and a half.
What is the longest timer I can set?
24 hours. For anything further away, count down to the date instead with the countdown maker.
Why did the alarm not sound?
Browsers only allow sound after you have clicked something on the page, and the Start button counts. Check that the device isn’t muted and that the tab wasn’t closed.
Need to count down to a date instead, like a holiday or a deadline? Use the countdown maker.
